About The Area
Only six hours north of Sydney & five hours south of Brisbane makes Sunny Sawtell the perfect getaway for a day or a week!
Lying between Boambee and Bonville Creeks, this north coast holiday resort, just south of Coffs Harbour, is popular for its beaches, fishing, golfing, swimming, surfing, boating and splendid caravan and camping sites.
Sawtell is bounded by safe surf beaches to the east, unspoilt waterways and Bongil Bongil National Park north and south and scenic mountain ranges in the west. This unique geographic location makes Sawtell a special town for locals and visitors.
Sawtell is a peaceful and rather typical coastal holiday and family recreation village on the mid north coast of NSW.
It is administered by Coffs Harbour City Council and is approximately 8km south of Coffs Harbour’s Central Business District.
Sawtell has its own heritage listed cinema showing recently released movies. The air conditioned cinema, with digital sound, screens an international film festival in October and a “Flickerfest” short film festival in March. Sawtell also offers great fishing (blackfish, bream and whiting). Boat ramps are available to launch your own boat into the creeks and ocean. There are two caravan parks with camping reserves and each has first class amenities. Bonville headland is a popular surfboard riding area. Snorkelling and skin diving can be experienced nearby. Safe swimming can be had in the unpolluted creek estuaries and surf, or if pool swimming is preferred, there is an ocean rock pool or a heated swimming pool within easy walking distance from the village centre. For the children a BMX track is only a short drive from Sawtell.
For those who wish to be active whilst on holidays there is a Croquet Club, bowling greens at the Sawtell Bowling Club, several courts at the Sawtell Tennis Centre and the excellent 18 hole golf course with clubhouse at the Sawtell Golf Course. Visitors are always welcome at these clubs.
